The Projects Engineer – Electrical will manage the electrical and instrumentation projects functions in the safest, most reliable, and cost-effective manner possible by focusing, planning, coordinating, and supervising various project activities to improve plant performance and reliability.

Job Summary:
To manage the electrical and instrumentation projects functions in the safest, most reliable, and cost-effective manner possible by focusing, planning, coordinating, and supervising various project activities to improve plant performance and reliability.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate and champion installations and commissioning activities of electrical systems.
  • Set performance objectives, monitor, appraise, and validate contractors’ performance to ensure safety and quality of works.
  • Work closely with all other departments as the hub of activity for electrical and instrumentation projects to ensure time schedules, financial, and quality targets are met.
  • Prepare and process certificates for proper handover of projects to end users, ensuring all documentation is handed over to the methods department to maintain proper records.
  • Generate and compile project costs to prepare capitalization certificates for the organization to claim taxes and other costs.
  • Define/specify technical specifications to initiate and track purchase requisitions, validate offers to ensure the right equipment is procured at the right time.
  • Develop and maintain justifications, project details, scope of works, budgetary/cost estimates, risk analysis, and initiate capex applications for sanction approvals to ensure projects meet set timelines, budgets, and performance standards.
  • Develop and evaluate the technical and economic performance of projects prior to appropriation to ensure the investment selected adds value to the organization.
  • Work closely with the procurement department to provide technical verifications for the best equipment selection to suit project purposes and ensure availability of all project resources and equipment necessary for timely implementation.
  • Coordinate contractor/experts activities in his/her section to ensure performance standards are met as per set targets.
  • Initiate and track purchase/service requisitions, verifying and validating technical specifications on suppliers’ offers as per Hima standards.
  • Conduct site inspections during project erection/installation work, evaluating contractors’ performance in terms of quality of workmanship, safety for the team and equipment, and meeting deadlines.
  • Monitor project expenditures regularly and take corrective measures to ensure that costs remain within budget limits.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Electronic Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of exposure in electrical and instrumentation maintenance operations in a busy cement organization.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities.
  • Results-oriented, self-driven with a high sense of quality and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in SAP, Excel, Word, and Google Worksheets.
  • Good knowledge of project management tools (CPA, PERT, MS Project, IRT, etc.).
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies (PRINCE II, PMP, etc.).
  • Understanding of the cement manufacturing process.
  • Knowledge of material transport equipment.
  • Experience applying FMEA techniques and knowledge of basic problem-solving tools.
