Purchase Officer (Imports)

Qualifications:

• Relevant degree in Imports, Logistics, Procurement
• Experience: 5-7 Years

Responsibilities:

• Manage the entire procurement process of the organization
• Ensure no storage & no demurrage on import shipments
• Liaise with Forwarders, Clearing Agents, and Port authorities for smooth shipment delivery
• Develop & implement cost-saving and efficiency strategies
• Verify and confirm import documents & HSCode declarations
• Ensure timely delivery of goods & services for production needs
• Liaise with Finance for Advance Payments & supplier updates
• Monitor the entire import cycle (from order confirmation to delivery in Kampala)
• Submit original documents on time to avoid delays
• Prioritize deliveries from Mombasa with inventory & consumables stores
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws & regulations
• Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers
• Manage team effectively for optimal output
• Ensure adherence to safety & environmental guidelines
• Prepare MIS reports and monitor KPIs for performance

Authority & Reporting:

• Reports to: Operations Manager
• Interfaces with: Admin, Sales, Finance, PPIC, Stores, Operations & Maintenance teams

Requirements:

• In-depth knowledge of import processes & customs clearance
• Strong communication & team management skills
