Qualitative Analyst

The Qualitative Analyst is responsible for designing, conducting, and analyzing qualitative research to generate insights that inform program design, policy development, and decision-making. This role involves working with a variety of qualitative data collection methods, including interviews, focus groups, and observational research, to explore complex issues in-depth. The Qualitative Analyst will synthesize findings and present them in a clear, actionable format for stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop research plans that include detailed methodologies, sampling strategies, and data collection techniques tailored to specific research questions.
• Design qualitative research instruments such as interview guides, focus group discussion guides, and observation protocols.
• Ensure ethical standards are maintained in research design and execution, including obtaining necessary approvals and informed consent.
• Train and supervise field researchers in qualitative data collection methods.
• Conduct primary data collection through various qualitative techniques to gather rich, nuanced data while ensuring high standards of data integrity and ethical compliance
• Analyze qualitative data using appropriate methods such as thematic analysis, narrative analysis, or grounded theory to uncover patterns, themes and insights that address the research questions and contribute to a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
• Use qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo, ATLAS) to organize, code, and analyze data.
• Synthesize qualitative findings into clear, concise reports, actionable insights and strategic recommendations for stakeholders.
• Prepare visual presentations and other communication materials to share insights with diverse audiences, including program teams, policymakers, and the public.
• Contribute to the publication of research findings in journals, policy briefs, or other relevant outlets.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance and operations to understand our needs and provide analytical support through training and mentorship of team members on qualitative research methods.
• Stay updated on the latest developments in qualitative research methodologies and tools.
Education Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Market Research, or a related field.
• Post graduate studies in Research Methodologies is highly desirable
Preferred Skills
• Advanced proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., STATA, R) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
• In-depth knowledge of qualitative research methodologies and analysis techniques.
• Understanding of ethical considerations in qualitative research.
• Experience in Market or Social research.
Experience
• At least 1-3 years of experience in qualitative research, with a proven track record of conducting in-depth qualitative analysis studies
• Fieldwork experience including field data collection especially in rural and urban settings with face-to-face and/or telephone interviews
