Quality Manager
Contract
Your Role:
As the Quality Manager, you will ensure that all finished goods (fish feed) meet De Heus and Ugandan standards of quality and safety. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing quality assurance policies, leading a quality control team, conducting audits, managing HSSE standards, and collaborating closely with other departments to achieve quality objectives. This role involves setting up the quality management team and transitioning to day-to-day operations management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement quality assurance policies and procedures to comply with industry standards and regulations.
- Conduct regular quality audits and inspections of raw materials, production processes, and finished products.
- Monitor and analyze quality performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Lead and manage the quality control team, providing training and guidance to ensure high performance and adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborate with production and purchasing teams to ensure quality requirements are met in both production and raw materials.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues, including customer complaints and non-conformities, and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive quality records and documentation, including quality reports, certifications, and compliance documents.
- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement.
- Set and maintain HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environment) standards within the company.
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with the quality team at the head office in the Netherlands.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A degree in Food Science, Animal Nutrition, Quality Management, or a related field.
- At least five (5) years of experience in a similar role, with three (3) years in a senior office or management position.
- In-depth knowledge of quality control processes, HACCP, GMP, and other relevant standards and regulations.
- Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, FSSC 22000) and certification processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Working knowledge of current legislation on animal feed standards and experience with HSSE.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
