Regional HRBP Advisor

Mercy Corps is hiring a Regional HRBP Advisor to support the Regional People Team, balancing team member needs with consultative support to managers.

Acting as a trusted advisor, this role drives innovative HR strategies, facilitates problem-solving, and ensures alignment with Mercy Corps’ strategic initiatives.

 

 

The People and Strategy team ensures Mercy Corps has the talent, strategies, and learning to remain a world-class humanitarian organization. By focusing on recruitment, retention, and development, we drive strategic thinking, align learning initiatives, and foster a culture of impact and innovation across the organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

Strategy and Vision:

  • Leverage cross-departmental relationships to develop creative HR strategies.
  • Stay updated on international HR trends, particularly within the humanitarian aid sector.
  • Identify areas for improvement and recommend strategic enhancements.

Personal Leadership:

  • Exceed expectations with flexibility and resilience under challenging conditions.
  • Uphold high ethical standards, confidentiality, and mutual respect.
  • Build strong professional relationships across teams, promoting feedback and learning.

Regional Human Resources:

  • Provide comprehensive HR support for lifecycle processes like onboarding, promotions, and performance reviews.
  • Analyze HR data and trends to inform regional leadership decisions.
  • Administer expatriate benefits and coordinate timely performance review processes.
  • Maintain and update HR documentation, processes, and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Mercy Corps’ global HR practices and contribute to audits.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of HR or Talent Acquisition experience.
  • Multilingual skills (English required; French, Swahili, or Arabic a plus).
  • Strong customer service, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in HR processes and data analytics, with an understanding of major employment laws.

This is a national position based in one of the East & Southern African countries where Mercy Corps operates. Team members are expected to conduct themselves professionally, adhering to local laws, customs, and Mercy Corps policies at all times.
