Relationship Manager – Agriculture

Housing Finance Bank is hiring a Relationship Manager – Agriculture responsible for the growth and performance of the Microfinance Agriculture asset book. evaluates and provides corrective action or support to the branches, plays a crucial role in building and maintaining relationships with both internal and external stakeholders in the Agricultural sector, ensures that all branches have a low -performing rates in the agriculture asset book and are compliant with the Credit policies and procedures of the Bank as well as all regulatory guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To develop and coordinate implementation of activities for the growth of a healthy Agribusiness & Green Finance portfolio and effectively manage customer and stakeholder relationships to ensure Microfinance Agriculture targets are achieved as per the business plan.
- Engage with key stakeholders including Farmers, agribusinesses, industry associations and government agencies to promote agricultural lending products and services.
- Assess credit requests in line with the bank’s credit standards, policies, procedures, and practices, and recommend actions to the credit department and committee as and when called upon.
- Initiate and coordinate development of action plans and proposals to penetrate new markets and source affordable funding for the segment.
- Develop, implement, and administer sales programs to maximize the contribution of the Agribusiness portfolio in line with set targets for portfolio mix.
- Conduct sales visits to existing and potential agribusiness customers, identify sales leads, and follow up to deal closure.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to organize and conduct sales campaigns for various product portfolios, increasing the uptake of agribusiness products and services.
- Collaborate with the product development teams to design and promote agricultural lending products that meet the needs of the farmers and agribusinesses
- Resolving client queries and complaints to maintain quality service delivery standards.
- Conduct monitoring visits, analyse the Agribusiness portfolio to identify adverse trends; identify and address weaknesses in a timely manner to minimize provisions and write offs.
- Engage actively with the Branch network to identify and close Agribusiness opportunities to operationalize the broader aspects of the Bank’s Strategic Business Plan.
- Manage a portfolio of agriculture loans, ensuring timely repayments, monitoring loan performance and taking corrective action where necessary.
- Conduct monitoring visits, analyse the Agrobusiness portfolio to identify adverse trends; identify and address weaknesses in a timely manner to minimize provisions and write offs.
- Develop, plan, and conduct training sessions by designing and implementing business training modules to enhance understanding and capacity for both staff and clients.
- Prepare and submit periodic reports on agricultural lending activities to key stakeholders like funders and regulators ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor as needed.
Financial Responsibility
- Growth of the Microfinance Agriculture asset book and customer base as per bank budgets.
- Quality of the Agricultural Lending book under microfinance.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- University degree (Honours) in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Finance or a related field.
- At least 3-5years of progressive experience in with an established and demonstrable track record in business banking in a commercial bank.
- A solid understanding of agribusiness lending practices in the informal sector.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Laws and regulations relating to lending in Financial Institutions.
Experience
- An established and demonstrable track record in the field of SME lending, Relationship management, deposits mobilization and retention
- Proven excellent networking competences in the business community as well as private and public institutions community.
- Possess excellent sales skills.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and strong communication skills!
- A good background in general banking knowledge
- An understanding of the credit granting process.
