Capital Markets Authority (CMA) is hiring a Research Officer (Temporary) to undertake a project to fast-track the implementation of actions in the Capital Markets Development Master Plan.
Duration: Up to three (3) months
Reports To: Director Research & Market Development
About Capital Markets Authority (CMA)
The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) is a statutory body established in 1996 under the Capital Markets Authority Act (Cap 84) to promote, develop, and regulate the capital markets industry. CMA operates under the governance of a Board of Directors appointed by the Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development. The authority is also governed by the Securities Central Depositories Act, 2009, and the Collective Investment Schemes Act, 2003.
CMA’s mandate includes:
- Approving prospectuses and offering documents for public securities.
- Developing capital markets by removing impediments and creating incentives for long-term investments.
- Maintaining and regulating an orderly, fair, and efficient securities market.
- Cooperating with foreign regulatory authorities to enhance securities market oversight.
- Implementing regional and international best practices in securities regulation and supervision.
- Protecting investors and operating an investor compensation fund.
To efficiently deliver its mandate, CMA seeks a qualified and self-motivated individual to join the team as a Research Officer on a temporary basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate the progress of actions under the 10-Year Capital Markets Development Master Plan.
- Identify bottlenecks, risks, and challenges in implementation and propose actionable solutions.
- Analyze data to assess the impact of implemented actions and provide evidence-based recommendations.
- Prepare high-quality reports, policy briefs, and presentations for senior management and stakeholders to enhance the pace of implementation for actions in the master plan.
- Work closely with government agencies, industry participants, and international organizations to foster collaboration and ensure successful implementation of actions in the master plan.
- Provide strategic insights to guide decision-making and ensure full implementation of the master plan.
- Develop and maintain project timelines, milestones, and performance indicators.
Person Specification
Education & Training:
- A degree from a recognized university in Economics, Statistics, Commerce, Business Administration (Finance), or a related field.
Skills & Experience:
- At least three (3) years of relevant work experience, preferably in the capital markets industry.
- Broad knowledge or interest in capital markets.
