Security Officer

Full-time

The Security Officer will maintain a safe and secure environment for the organization’s assets, staff, visitors, and customers by patrolling and monitoring of the installations, carrying out checks, and providing overall guidance of order of entry and exit, ensuring maximum security in line with best practices in security management.
The job holder will coordinate security matters with management, sourced security firm at the premise, and the public security organs as per the needs and procedures. The person will assist in upholding the policies, oversee the compliance of all security guidelines, and act as a point of reference for security communications and reporting to management, ensuring value for money, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Reports to: Manager Administration and Logistics

Main Job Responsibilities

  • Implement security policies, protocols, and procedures to maximize the safety and security of all BUBL staff and assets.
  • Direct, review, and coordinate security activities, including access to controls to safeguard organizational assets, employees, clients, and information.
  • Report compliance issues relating to all security contracted services on a weekly basis to the Administration and Security Manager and prepare weekly security reports to the immediate supervisor.
  • Respond to medical emergencies, bomb threats, fire alarms, or intrusion alarms following security risk management procedures.
  • Ensure that the inspection and testing of BUBL facilities are undertaken monthly and perform risk assessment of all BUBL sites, reporting changes in the physical, security posture of access requirements.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate the activities of the hired security personnel.
  • Supervise the custody of the Head Office keys and manage the opening, locking of the premises in line with the security guidelines.
  • Detect crime and, with the help of police, arrest wrongdoers at the premises, escort them to the police, and testify in the courts of law.
  • Assist in getting police reports on fraud-related cases and also recovery of all fraudulent at BUBL in accordance with the institution’s security policy.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Postgraduate diploma in Security Management with experience in handling security in a workplace setting is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of at least three years of experience in serving in a security organization/industry such as Police, Army, and Prisons, coupled with advanced first aid or trauma training.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Experience in investigations and intelligence information gathering and relevant technologies and equipment such as CCTV, fire detection and suppression system guard pack.
  • Excellent knowledge of security protocols and procedures.
  • IT skills, especially Microsoft Office applications and statistical data analysis.
  • Well conversant with the changing security threats in Uganda and neighboring countries.
  • Experience in working with financial sectors, preferably in a commercial banking environment.
  • Good drafting, statement writing, communication, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to execute various tasks at the same time and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
