Senior Consultant Private Sector Development Project Lead

Renew Capital is hiring a Senior Consultant Private Sector Development Project Lead to lead a cross-cultural team of analysts, consultants, investment professionals, lawyers, and business experts to implement a multi-year program aimed at strengthening Africa’s SME investment ecosystem. You will be responsible for delivering project outcomes, managing budgets, and ensuring adherence to Renew Capital’s standards and client contracts.

Successful candidates will possess strong experience in business, investment, and/or management consulting, a deep understanding of frontier markets, and the ability to work across different cultures. The role requires excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills, as well as a passion for mentorship, impact-driven consulting, and SME growth.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute a high-impact development project, ensuring all milestones are met.
  • Develop and manage a team of project analysts.
  • Oversee M&E systems to capture and report social impact, with a focus on gender equality.
  • Facilitate gender-smart programs and train SMEs both virtually and in-person.
  • Collaborate with the asset management team to design interventions that help SMEs attract investment.
  • Provide coaching and technical assistance to entrepreneurs navigating economic and cultural challenges.
  • Prepare detailed project reports that showcase social impact outcomes.
  • Manage client communications, including project meetings and reporting.
  • Drive adoption of consulting tools, systems, and processes within the organization.
  • Work closely with Renew Capital’s executive team to refine project SOPs and operational efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Development (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in management consulting, finance, or private sector development.
  • Experience managing grant-funded projects.
  • Strong project management skills (certification is a plus).
  • Proficiency in report writing and data analysis.
  • Exposure to finance, private equity, and impact investing.
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills.

  • Work Hours: 8 hours/day
  • Experience Required: Minimum 5 years (60 months)
  • Education Level: Postgraduate Degree
