Senior Manager Savings & Loans

Full-time

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job 

The Senior Manager Savings & Loans is responsible for driving the development of the financial management strategy and successful delivery of BankTech solutions such as savings, loans, investment, and insurance products through new, innovative and customer-friendly solutions. The role also entails management of existing products in the portfolio to grow customer uptake, volumes, value and revenue.

Responsibilities

Main Job Functions:

Strategy Development and Implementation

  • Cascade the Group strategy to create sub-functional strategy aligned with the overarching business goals, under oversight of the Chief Product Officer
  • Ensure effective implementation of the sub-functional strategy by means of providing direction, structure, frameworks, models, plans and roadmaps
  • Oversee regular review of the sub-functional strategy and roadmap, under oversight of the Chief Product Officer, to ensure its alignment with the changing dynamics of the internal and external ecosystem

Staff Leadership and Management

  • Source, induct and manage talent in accordance with legislative guidelines
  • Continually develop a culture of strong collaboration and effective team working
  • Ensure open communication channels with staff and implement change management interventions where necessary
  • Provide definition of roles, responsibilities, individual goals and performance objectives for the team
  • Promote a ‘Fintech centric’ and ‘partnership approach’ to develop strong relationships with other working groups and ensure adherence to Group governance

Governance 

  • Provide inputs & drive OpCo wide transformation initiatives, elicit inputs from relevant parties
  • Manage and provide solutions to escalations that have multiple processes / functions impact on critical path of service delivery
  • Review key risks, issues and dependencies and set mitigation actions, seeking guidance from the Chief Product Officer as and when required
  • Monitor performance and alignment with overall OpCo strategy
  • Report as required on progress made within the function and in accordance with the measurement metrics set by the organisation
  • Manage sub-function’s budgets and project initiatives in line with business objectives, and ensure that the cost of operations are reduced.

Operational Delivery

  • Monitor and align the direction, strategy and results of the vertical, collectively and as individual work areas in the OpCo, ensuring that the Group guidelines are duly complied with
  • Cascade the product strategy from the Group Finco and build an OpCo customized product roadmap for the segment
  • Manage the development and implementation of Go to market strategy to drive BankTech products, in collaboration with the Commercial Operations team
  • Leverage on analytics, mobile data and mobile advertising to develop fit for purpose solutions

 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or any other related field
  • Relevant post-graduate qualification is an advantage.
  • Relevant Certifications

Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years total experience in products development or an allied field is required.
  • Experience in Fintech, Payments, Advanced Services or Mobile Money is preferred.
  • Experience working in a global/multinational enterprise with a good understanding of emerging markets is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in telecommunications, product development/agile project management, customer services, or marketing.
  • At least 3 years in a senior managerial position leading a team.
  • Possess the authority, presence, and integrity to command respect from colleagues and from external contacts.

Knowledge & Training

  • Creative strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the Fintech industry and a passion for creating innovative new products that meet customer needs.
  • Technology proficiency in relevant technologies, material, and a good understanding of product design and development methodologies.
  • Adaptability with changing market conditions and customer needs with ability to pivot quickly if a product is not performing well and be willing to adjust the development process as needed.
  • Strong leadership skills with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate a fast-paced team.
  • Work experience across diverse cultures and geographies
  • Flexibility and ability to handle stress with good planning and organization skills.
  • Excellent Strategic Planning & Business analytical skills + Pricing
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to use initiative and multi-task while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work proactively with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to self-manage a diverse workload and deadline.
  • Experience in managing IT delivery teams.
