Social Science Research Assistant

Reports to: Scientist B

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Principal duties.

• Ensure that participants for the study are mobilized and recruited into the study.
• Administer study information to participants and obtain informed consent
• Translate study documents
• Collect, code, and analyse qualitative and quantitative data.
• Prepare and maintain detailed records of research activities.
• Assist in the preparation of research reports, presentations, and publications.
• Coordinate with team members and external partners to ensure project milestones are met.
• Perform administrative tasks related to research projects as needed.

Financial management.

• Ensure proper accountability of project resources in line with MRC/UVRI & LSHTM policies; and,
• Ensure study participants’ time / transport compensation payment.

• Bachelor’s degree in social work and Social Administration or and Applied Psychology
• GDPR and HSP/GCP training
• At least 6 months’ experience in a clinical research setting, preferably including experience in social and behavioral science research
• Experience working with the Family –based/centered interventions
• Experience in working with adolescents’ health
• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team with clinical/epidemiological researchers
• Prior interviewing experience
• Fluency in English, Lusoga and Luganda language
• Basic knowledge in data collection, handling and reporting.
• Proficiency in computer use (MS word, Excel, Access, SSP
• Self-driven
