Refactory Limited is an academy that addresses the challenge of youth unemployment by closing the skills gap in software and tech-related fields across Africa. Established by Clarke International University (CIU), Laboremus Uganda Ltd, Fontes Foundation, and Youth With A Mission UK, Refactory aims to equip young people with the skills needed for employment in the tech industry.
Position Overview:
The Talent Management Officer will facilitate employment and internship opportunities for graduates of Refactory’s skilling programs. This role involves coordinating job placements and providing support to graduates to ensure successful transitions into the workforce, working closely with the Talent Management Lead.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Talent Matching and Placement
- Collaborate with the Talent Management Lead to identify suitable job opportunities for graduates.
- Match program graduates with appropriate employment and internship opportunities based on their skills, qualifications, and career goals.
- Coordinate the recruitment process, including job postings, applicant screening, interview scheduling, and placement follow-up.
- Provide ongoing support to graduates, including resume reviews, interview preparation, and career coaching.
- Organize employer visits, recruitment drives, and networking events to connect graduates with potential employers.
- Promote the program and foster relationships with potential employers through outreach activities.
2. Talent Support and Mentorship
- Offer career counseling, coaching, and guidance to graduates on job search strategies, resume writing, interview preparation, and professional development.
- Set up workshops, webinars, and training sessions on career readiness, workplace skills, and industry trends.
- Develop and implement a mentorship framework for students, including recruitment and engagement of mentors.
- Manage mentorship relationships and track the success of mentorship plans.
- Maintain contact with alumni to track their career progression and assess the program’s impact on employment outcomes.
- Collect feedback from employers regarding graduate performance to enhance placement efforts and ensure employer satisfaction.
3. Data Management and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of job placements, internships, and employer interactions using data management systems.
- Prepare regular reports on placement activities, challenges, and successes for review by the Talent Management Lead and other stakeholders.
4. Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with the training team to align the curriculum with industry needs.
- Collaborate with team members to address barriers to employment for female graduates.
- Represent the academy at industry events, conferences, and other relevant forums.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Career Counseling, Social Work, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in job placement, recruitment, or talent acquisition, preferably in the technology sector or workforce development programs.
- Knowledge of employment trends, labor market dynamics, and employer needs in the technology industry.
- Strong networking, relationship-building, and communication skills.
- Experience in providing career counseling, coaching, or support services to job seekers in diverse environments.
- Proficiency in data management and reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets).
- Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Reporting Structure:
The Talent Management Officer will report to the Talent Management Lead and work closely with the Programs team.
