Technical Assistant

Full-time

The role of the Technical Assistant involves overseeing the implementation of a project aimed at enhancing access to markets for an inclusive agricultural transformation in Eastern Uganda. The successful candidate will work closely with district officials, field supervisors, and farmers to ensure the production of high-quality grains and the effective execution of training and logistical activities.

Reports To: Program Assistant
Location: KT Uganda – Busoga Region
Category: Contract

Purpose: Oversee the implementation of the project in Iganga, Bugiri & Namutumba Districts.

Responsibilities:

  •  Project Partners Management:Support and strengthen linkages between District Officials, KT, and other stakeholders.
    Assist Field Supervisors, ToTs, and farmers in producing quality grains for national and regional markets.
  • Project Implementation:
    Follow the approved project plan.
    Help prepare and distribute training materials.
    Coordinate training logistics.
    Build capacity in PHH techniques.
    Link farmers to suppliers and facilitate access to finance for post-harvest equipment.
    Provide logistical support for distributing PHH materials.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation:
    Ensure participant engagement in training sessions.
    Coordinate with trainers and stakeholders.
    Submit monthly technical reports.
    Implement monitoring and evaluation strategies.
    Collect and enter data related to training sessions.
    Support the establishment of Farmer Organizations.
    Manage data capturing and analysis.
    Prepare quarterly progress reports.

Competencies:

 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong technical skills in writing, editing, formatting, research, negotiation, and verbal communication.
  • Attention to detail.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agribusiness, rural development, project management, or related field.
  • Additional training or experience in project coordination is an asset.
  • 2-3 years of experience in supporting agricultural or rural development projects
  • Experience in data collection, report writing, and logistics coordination.
  • Ability to communicate in Lusoga is an advantage.
