Technology Assistant
Contract
The Technology Assistant provides technical support and assistance to the Technology Manager and the organisation as a whole. This role involves maintaining computer systems, networks, and software, providing technical support to users, and assisting in the implementation of technology projects.

Key Responsibilities:
IT Infrastructure & Technical Support:
- Provide first-level technical support to staff, addressing hardware and software issues.
- Support the implementation of technology solutions for data collection, analysis, and visualisation.
- Assist in exploring and adopting new technologies to improve operational efficiency and program effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the technology manager , Program Manager and research team to develop data-driven tools and applications.
- Assist in managing and maintaining SEMA’s IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, and networks.
- Provide technical support to staff, troubleshooting issues and resolving them promptly.
- Ensure the security and reliability of IT systems by following best practices and protocols.
Project Support:
- Work closely with the technology manager and other team members to align technology tasks with organizational goals.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the team.
- Provide technical guidance and support to staff as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of Proven experience
- Strong technical expertise in areas such as network administration, database management, software development, and cybersecurity.
- Understanding of data management and analysis to support the organization’s research focus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with both technical and non-technical staff.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills to address technical challenges and find innovative solutions.
Working conditions
The Technology Assistant will primarily works in an office environment, with occasional on-site support for users. This is a full-time job (40 hours/week), with occasional weekend activities (conferences, meetings.)

We offer a full-time contract for 12 months which may be renewed upon successful completion of targets. The probation period is 3 months. PAYE, NSSF and health insurance are covered, as well as 21 holidays and an annual training budget.
Remuneration is a combination of base salary and increments based on acquisition achievements. Please note we are a small, local social enterprise, and we offer salaries according to Ugandan local organization standards – we do not offer an international organization (UN) scale salary. We are looking for someone who is (willing to be) based in Kampala, Uganda.
