Training and Community Engagement Associate

Job Purpose: To lead the development and execution of mechanic training programs, foster a community of practice among automotive service providers, and enhance the use of Makanika Dot Com’s digital platforms to connect vehicle owners with automotive service providers across Uganda.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training Program Development and Implementation: Direct the creation and implementation of mechanic training programs that incorporate cutting-edge automotive repair techniques and technologies, adhering to industry standards.
  • Curriculum Development Support: Work alongside industry experts to devise and refine training curricula that respond to the evolving needs of the industry, ensuring content is relevant, thorough, and promotes effective learning.
  • Trainer Selection and Management: Recruit and manage skilled mechanics who will serve as trainers and mentors, offering practical training that nurtures a culture of continuous learning and professional advancement.
  • Community of Practice and Capacity Building: Cultivate a community of practice among partner garages, facilitating peer learning and increasing participation in capacity building programs. This includes organizing workshops, forums, and activities that encourage knowledge sharing and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Partnership Development: Establish strategic partnerships with automotive industry leaders, educational institutions, and suppliers to bolster the training programs and provide mechanics and apprentices with comprehensive growth opportunities.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Conduct monitoring and evaluation activities to assess the effectiveness of training and community engagement efforts, adjusting strategies as needed to meet organizational goals efficiently.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Adult Education, Business, Community Development, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in training program development, curriculum design, community engagement, and partnership management.
  • Deep understanding of the automotive repair industry and vocational training practices.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of teams and stakeholders across various regions.

This position is crucial to achieving Makanika Dot Com’s goals of enhancing the skills of mechanics, generating employment opportunities, and improving the accessibility and quality of automotive repair services throughout Uganda’s extensive network of partner garages and districts.
