Opportunity Bank Uganda is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and results-oriented professional to join our team as a Bancassurance Sales Coordinator. This role is key in driving our bancassurance business by sourcing and managing insurance sales, maintaining compliance with industry regulations, and providing exceptional service to clients and partners.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Drive sales performance to meet set targets for insurance products.

  • Lead and coordinate sales initiatives and promotional campaigns across designated branches.

  • Provide accurate and clear explanations of insurance products, including benefits, terms, and costs.

  • Ensure the smooth acquisition and onboarding of new insurance clients.

  • Track and support lodged claims, including compiling and submitting necessary documentation.

  • Address and resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.

  • Collect and verify all required documentation during policy application and ensure timely communication of application outcomes.

  • Monitor upcoming renewals and follow up on lapsed policies.

  • Reconcile premiums and commissions accurately.

  • Register and update insurance data in relevant Bancassurance systems.

  • Support policyholders and beneficiaries in fulfilling claims settlement requirements.

  • Ensure full compliance with local insurance regulations and internal bank procedures.

  • Supervise and guide the performance of Sales Executives within assigned branches.

 

Risk Management & Compliance Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with Bank of Uganda (BoU) regulations, internal policies, risk frameworks, and budgetary controls.

  • Safeguard client confidentiality and avoid unauthorized disclosure of customer information.

  • Refrain from forming unauthorized partnerships or referring potential clients to third parties outside of approved insurers.

  • Never solicit or accept a share of proceeds from any insurance claims.

  • Conduct due diligence in premium collection, including following up on renewals and ensuring timely remittance to the bank account.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in insurance (underwriting, claims, finance, or regulatory roles), or

  • Certificate of Proficiency (COP) from a recognized Insurance Institute and at least 3 years of experience in insurance operations.

  • Professional development certifications in insurance or related fields are an added advantage.

  • Demonstrated financial literacy and a clean record with no past or current criminal convictions.

  • Preference will be given to candidates currently recognized as Specified Persons by the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA).
