Job Purpose
The Operations Manager will plan, coordinate, and oversee activities across logistics, engineering, and EHS. The role ensures efficient, high-quality, and compliant service delivery while aligning with the company’s mission and growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations across all service divisions (Logistics, Engineering, and EHS).
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and service quality.
- Manage scheduling, resource allocation, and project tracking.
- Service Delivery & Quality Control
- Ensure all services meet contractual, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain SOPs and KPIs for performance monitoring.
- Conduct regular audits and operational reviews.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as liaison between clients and internal teams to ensure satisfaction and continuity.
- Support business development by contributing to proposals and operational planning for new contracts.
- Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in oil & gas, energy, and manufacturing sectors.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and support supervisors, engineers, logistics staff, EHS officers, and recruitment teams.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and performance management of operational staff.
- Promote a culture of safety, integrity, and continuous improvement.
- Compliance & Safety Oversight
- Ensure compliance with national and international EHS standards and local labor laws.
- Promote environmental stewardship and sustainability in all operations.
- Coordinate incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Procurement
- Manage procurement of goods and services locally and internationally.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and vendors.
- Oversee import processes, customs clearance, and compliance with Ugandan regulations.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery.
- Ensure all purchases comply with company policies, national content requirements, and industry standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Procurement and Logistics, Industrial Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7–10 years’ experience in operations, preferably in oil & gas, manufacturing, engineering services, or logistics.
- Strong knowledge of EHS practices and labour outsourcing models.
Desirable:
- Postgraduate qualification or certification in Project Management or Operations Management.
- Experience in contract management and business development.
