Goethe-Zentrum Kampala (GZK) / Uganda German Cultural Society (UGCS) is currently seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team as Accountant.
Start Date: 24th November 2025
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

Manage daily financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting records

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
-
Track income, expenses, and monitor budgets, including financial forecasting
-
Ensure compliance with Ugandan tax laws and donor financial guidelines
-
Coordinate internal and external audits, including preparation of audit documentation
-
Process payroll and manage staff reimbursements
-
Oversee procurement processes for office supplies and equipment
-
Manage cash flow, bank accounts, and perform bank reconciliations
-
Maintain relationships with banking institutions and financial service providers
-
Develop internal finance policies and documentation where necessary
-
Implement and support internal financial controls
-
Handle receipting and registration of language students
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
-
Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is a strong advantage
-
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar accounting or finance role
-
Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
-
Solid understanding of Ugandan tax laws and statutory compliance requirements

Good written and verbal communication skills in English
-
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multicultural team

Must be a Ugandan citizen
