Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
  • Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable/receivable, and intercompany transactions.
  • Monitor expenses, budgets, and cost control measures to optimize profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with Ugandan tax laws (PAYE, VAT, WHT, Corporate Tax) and filing returns on time.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Track production costs, raw material usage, and inventory valuation.
  • Analyze manufacturing expenses and recommend cost-saving measures.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting for production and operational costs.
  • Process payroll, ensuring accurate salary calculations, deductions, and statutory remittances (NSSF, PAYE).
  • Verify supplier invoices, process payments, and maintain good vendor relationships.
  • Implement and monitor internal financial controls to prevent fraud and mismanagement.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Professional certification like ACCA, CPA is a plus).
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing/plastics industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, Tally) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Ugandan tax laws and IFRS.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
