Cycling out of Poverty Foundation (CooP-Uganda) is hiring a dynamic, and creative Communications & Design Officer to lead our visual storytelling and public engagement efforts. This role is perfect for someone who thrives at the intersection of design, media, and strategic communication.
Key Responsibilities:
– Documentation & Storytelling
- Capture our work through photography, videography, and written narratives.
- Curate stories that highlight our impact and resonate with diverse audiences.
– Graphic Design & Visual Content
- Create all in-house visual materials including posters, flyers, reports, and infographics.
- Translate complex data into clear, engaging visual formats.
- Ensure all documents and publications align with our corporate branding.
- Utilize AI-powered tools to adjust photos for optimal visual impact.
– Social Media & Digital Strategy
- Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy.
- Manage and grow our presence across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Youtube, etc.).
- Monitor engagement, moderate interaction, and adapt content to maximize reach and impact.
– Media Relations & Public Messaging
- Draft compelling press releases and media statements.
- Serve as a spokesperson when needed and liaise with journalists and media outlets.
- Ensure our message is consistently and effectively communicated to the public.
– Community Engagement & Events
- Coordinate public relations events and campaigns.
- Maintain strong communication with community groups and stakeholders.
- Represent the organization at external events and forums.
The applicant must be/have:
– Proven experience in graphic design and communications
– Proficiency in software such as Canva, Google Maps, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite.
– Strong writing skills and media savvy.
– Experience in managing social media channels and analytics.
– Strong skills in video/photo taking and editing: with simple camera
– Passion for community engagement and storytelling.
– Exceptional command of spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
– Meticulous attention to detail and consistency—especially in formatting, headings, and layout.
– Diploma in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or a related field
– A passion for cycling and conservation; must be able to ride a bicycle
– Candidates familiar with Jinja have preference
