Human Capital Business Solutions Ltd is hiring a Logistics Manager to oversee end-to-end logistics operations, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of goods. This role involves managing teams, optimizing processes, and driving continuous improvement to support business growth and customer satisfaction.

Reports To: Head of Operations

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor inbound and outbound logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Manage relationships with carriers, suppliers, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics providers to negotiate rates and ensure service levels.
  • Lead and develop a team of logistics coordinators, warehouse staff, and drivers; handle recruitment, training, performance reviews, and scheduling.
  • Optimize routes, fleet utilization, and inventory levels to minimize costs while maximizing efficiency and on-time delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international regulations (e.g., customs, health & safety, hazardous materials).
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery accuracy, transit times, cost per shipment, and warehouse throughput.
  • Utilize logistics software (e.g., TMS, WMS, ERP systems) to track shipments, generate reports, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Resolve operational issues, manage risks, and coordinate crisis responses (e.g., delays, disruptions).
  • Drive sustainability initiatives, such as fuel efficiency and eco-friendly packaging.
  • Prepare budgets, control logistics costs, and report on financial performance.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Masters Degree in Business Administration is of high advantage
  • 5–8 years of progressive experience in logistics operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within the logistics sector.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics software (e.g., SAP, Oracle TMS,) and data analytics tools.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Ugandan/East African customs regulations and regional transport networks is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
