Human Capital Business Solutions Ltd is hiring a Production Supervisor to oversee daily manufacturing operations on the production floor, ensuring teams meet production targets safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This hands-on role involves leading shift teams, monitoring processes, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Reports To: Production Manager

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead production teams (operators, technicians, and line workers) across assigned shifts, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to schedules, quality standards, and output targets while minimizing downtime and waste.
  • Enforce health, safety, and environmental regulations; conduct regular safety audits and promote a zero-incident culture.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, quality control, and logistics teams to resolve issues, optimize workflows, and maintain equipment uptime.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production volume, yield, defect rates, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Handle employee relations on the floor, including attendance, discipline, motivation, and conflict resolution.
  • Prepare shift reports, conduct handover meetings, and contribute to production planning and budgeting.
  • Identify training needs and support skill development to build a high-performing team.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Management, or a related field.
  • 4–7 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing production, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven knowledge of production processes, quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001), and lean manufacturing tools.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate teams in a shift-based environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail under pressure.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and basic ERP/MRP systems; experience with production tracking software is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Ugandan occupational health & safety regulations and labor laws.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, or overtime as required.
